Giver and Gift: Beyond Compare
A one hour, door-to-door, one rickshaw, two trains, five flights of stairs, 5 days a week, rain or shine journey to work is not exactly fun! My one way warm up to work, courtesy, Aamchi Mumbai! Unless of course, one decides to get creative in discovering reasons to make it interesting.
One evening on my way back home, there on the footpath before I boarded my train was seated the ‘familiar’ blind man, a ‘gifted’ flautist. His tune was totally drowned out by the raucous, who-cares-Mumbai-worker-bees trudging home. There was nothing unusual, I thought. Another perfect recipe for a boring ride home! My eyes casually sifted the scanty coins strewn across his little collection mat. An ‘awful lot’, I thought, after a long day of blowing out all his breath!
But there was a something that stirred my weary heart. On his mat was a candy bar, a Mars bar, that some kind soul must have lovingly placed to warm the heart of a man who would have no clue as to what on ‘Mars‘ this really was! This little gesture of giving to someone a little something that he would never be able to grasp or appreciate fully brought to mind another extraordinary gift. A gift given by the Grandest Giver that this world would never be able to appreciate enough, ever.
I once was blind, but now, I see.
Dimly!

The Reflective Christian is intended to spark in the reader a desire/habit of loving the Lord with the mind. Christians ought to learn to constantly look at the reality around us through the lens of the Bible. This exercise paves way to transform our mind to gradually conform to the mind of Christ, as we train to reflect on the mundane and the monotonous everyday occurrences in the light of God’s active and unchanging word
