Jesus Style Leadership 3 - Crop & FaithUddrag
The Foundation of Faith
Leadership Lesson
Jesus-style leadership requires Faith.
Read Hebrews 11:1–7.
Comment
Faith is foundational to Christianity. We believe what we can’t prove. We believe that God made everything. We believe that God is in control. We believe that Jesus has died for our sins. We believe that God will reward those who follow him. We believe that God works everything together for good for those who serve him. We can’t prove any of these things, but we believe them because God has spoken. Faith in God’s revelation has always been necessary. All the biblical heroes had “confidence in what they hoped for and assurance about things they couldn’t see” (11:1). When God spoke, they believed in faith. When God called, they followed in faith. When God commanded, they obeyed in faith. They weren’t sure what they were getting into, but they believed that God was sovereign and trustworthy and that what he promised would be fulfilled. Their faith meant confidently believing in God and his promises. So, it won’t surprise you to know that Jesus-style leadership will call for a lot of faith. God will speak and call you to believe, even though it may look unlikely. You’re going to have to trust God’s words. Without faith, it is impossible to please God (11:6).
Prayer
Thanks for these early Bible heroes who kept believing your promises and directions despite all the unknowns. I want You to know that I do believe that You are real, that You created everything, that You are in control, that You love me, and that You will generously reward all who seek You. I know that what You say is trustworthy, and I have faith in You, Lord. Help me to keep believing, no matter what is happening.
Personal Reflection
After being warned about the coming deluge, Noah took at least 50 years to build the ark. What can you learn from the faith of Noah?
