Scattered, but Growing
The fallout from Stephen’s death caused many Christians to scatter, leaving Jerusalem. But as they landed in new towns they couldn’t keep quiet about Jesus, causing the Church to grow rapidly.
Read: Acts 11:19-30 (NLT)
Explore the Theme: Although the disciples faced great adversity, their steadfastness in sharing the word of God, in the face of great adversity, results in many believing. After enduring such persecution, how do you think the disciples felt watching so many believe? How did they weigh the cost?
Ask God: Despite difficult circumstances - even persecution and death - God blessed the early Church. How does that encourage you in what God can do in the world around us? In our church? In your life? Ask God for the faith to believe that he is willing and able to bless us when things feel hard, scary or even impossible.
Live it Out: The Church was blessed and so they blessed others. Pray about who you can serve this week and how you can bless others - whether with a financial gift, an act or service or even a word of kindness. Reach out and be the hands and feet of Jesus.

(Part two of a four part journey through the Books of Acts.) Even in (and especially in?) hard times, God is present and is working to build His Church. We can find encouragement in this. When circumstances force us to pivot, we don’t have to lose heart - God is with us.
