Blessed

DAG 12 AF 15

This truth that Paul wrote, that we are not our own, is communicating the reality we are temples of the Holy Spirit. We’re not our own because God lives in us. God has moved in. He has deposited His Spirit in us. But the same principle applies to every single aspect of our lives. We live a life on loan. Every single aspect of our lives has been given to us by God. Your ability to throw a softball well? God-given. Your ability to understand and solve a math problem? God-given. Your ability to see through a problem toward a creative solution? God-given. Your ability to earn money at your job? God-given.

If we start to see our lives and our abilities as they truly are—given to us by God—then the pressure to perform shifts into the freedom to use the gifts God has given us to the best of our ability. It shifts from pressure to freedom. It’s a slight shift, but it’s a life-giving one. The truth is that life is one big stewardship of what God has given you. It’s all on loan. So, start seeing your life as stewardship. Freely dance along to the rhythm God has placed in your life—it’s been His intention for you all along.

Blessed

Our view of blessed is often tethered to a continually changing spectrum—our circumstances. If life is good, in our view, we’re blessed. If life isn’t going well, in our view, we’re not blessed. But is our definition of blessed the same as God’s? We’ll look at how God defines “blessed.” It turns out, we’re very likely missing how “blessed” we all are—regardless of what’s going on around us.
