Tarah-Lynn Saint-Elien: She Reigns Devotional Day 3
“The Shift”
Scripture reading: 2 Corinthians 10:3-4; Hebrews 4:12-13
Freedom to live a righteous and powerful life starts with what I call “the shift.” I made a cool acronym so we can explore it:
See
Harmful
Ideations
Fall (with the)
Truth (of God)
According to Merriam-Webster, an ideation is “the capacity for or the act of forming or entertaining ideas.” Ideations can be positive or negative. However, I believe neither will stand true if they are filtered through the Word of God.
You see, sis, the Lord doesn’t leave us out here defenseless. His Word is a weapon! The Passion Translation of 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 lets us know that though “we live in the natural realm, we don’t wage a military campaign employing human weapons, using manipulation to achieve our aims. Instead, our spiritual weapons are energized with divine power to effectively dismantle the defenses behind which people hide.”
Nothing can stand against the Word of God—not even the thoughts that seem ingrained in your mind. The Word of the Lord “will even penetrate to the very core of our being where soul and spirit, bone and marrow meet! It interprets and reveals the true thoughts and secret motives of our hearts” (Hebrew 4:12 TPT).
The NIV says it “is alive and active” and “sharper than any double-edged sword”! How beautifully relieving it is to have a weapon that does not tarnish or dull. The Word of God is the best weapon in our arsenal, leading us to glory.
Let’s draw our attention back to the shift.
For the shift to occur, we must first see or identify the thought. Capture it. Distinguish it. If the ideation, imagination—whatever you want to call it—is indeed sinful, you will be a witness to how it doesn’t stand a chance once it is filtered through the truth of God. Then, repentance will be born in that place—and that’s the topic we’ll get to in tomorrow’s devotion.
What ideations or imaginations might you need to expose to God’s truth?
