God Rejects Saul as King- Insecurity and People Pleasing

Saul ultimately lost God's blessing when he took matters into his own hands a second time. God had commanded Saul not to keep any of the plunder from the battle. Saul disregarded God's command and kept the best of the enemy's sheep and cattle for him and his men. When confronted with his disobedience, Saul made excuses and spiritualized his actions, claiming that he planned to use them to bring sacrifices to God.

When Samuel pressed Saul even further by reporting that God had now rejected him as King, he repented and disclosed the real reason for his disobedience. "I was afraid of the men, and so I gave in to them."

Insecurity will often lead to us into people-pleasing. When we are worried about impressing others or earning their approval, we fail to be effective leaders. When we give into people-pleasing, we are allowing our insecurity to lead us.

Daily Challenge: Are there any people in your life that you have a hard time saying no to their requests? In what ways can you ensure you have healthy boundaries in place so that you do not fall into a habit of people-pleasing?
