My God Is Still the Same by Sanctus RealUddrag
MGISTS Devo: Day 2
So maybe the greatest thing about the fact that God never changes is that He is GOOD! It would be a very different story if the God of the universe had no sympathy toward the human race. What if God really just didn’t care? What if God was an angry, bitter old man in the sky waiting to hit us on the head with an ugly stick every time we did something wrong?
Truth be told, for various reasons, many of us view God this way. Thankfully, when it comes to the nature of who our Heavenly Father is, nothing could be further from the truth.
Through the prophet Jeremiah God has said to His people that He has plans for us. Not plans for our demise but plans for our welfare! Not plans to harm us but plans to prosper us and to give us hope and a future!
Psalm 103 tells us that God forgives all our sins, heals all our diseases, redeems our lives from the pit, and crowns us with love and compassion. It says that God satisfies our desires with good things so that our youth is renewed like the eagles.
Ephesians 2 says that because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
The infamous John 3:16 scripture says For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever would believe in Him would not perish but have eternal life.
I’m reminded of the story of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15. So many of us run through life, doing things our own way, only to find we keep hitting dead ends. Finally, when we come to our senses and remember how much better we had it before we started running, we look towards home. And God is like that Father. He sees us coming and before we’re even close to the house He drops everything and runs toward us! He throws His arms of love around us and we’re completely overcome by His full embrace! He covers us with His best robe, puts a ring on our finger, shoes on our feet, and tells the servants to kill the fattened calf! He throws a party and celebrates us!
Psalm 118 reminds us over and over again that God is good and His steadfast love endures forever!
His love for you, the affection He feels towards you, and the care He has for every detail of your life have never and will never change! God has always been good and God is still the same!
