Real Hope: The Voice of GodUddrag
Where Are the Brakes?
Living on the top of a steep hill, I remember sitting on my first pushbike feeling like Maria in the opening scene of the Sound of Music.
Less enamored with the historical significance of the moment, my brother was peddling away at full speed having ignored Dad’s instruction to ride at a considered pace for a while. Freedom was beckoning, and my brother was not about to let it down.
As he crested the hill, the valley rang with the sound of "Dad! Where are the braaaakes?"
Today, Solomon reminds us that waiting on God’s voice doesn’t begin with us telling Him what needs to be done or jumping to judgement on how we think He’s responding to our world. These are the offerings of a fool.
Worship isn’t doing all the talking. There’s listening to be done too. Then there is searching God’s advice in our Bible along with the taking of counsel from spiritual mentors.
Have you ever told God you’re confused about His plan, then hung up the "phone?"
Walk wisely before God. Then wait for Him to tell you where the brakes are. After all, God is the one in heaven, so let your words be few (vs 2).
