To be branded by the Word of the Lord is to say that your faith makes up a piece of who you are. Just like your experiences, characteristics, likes and dislikes, your belief helps to form your personality. I think that as Christians, we tend to view the world in a much different light than many others. When faced with challenges, we have peace within us because we know that God has us covered.
I firmly believe that the best way to lead others to Christ is to put this piece of our identity on display for the world to see. I am not ashamed or embarrassed by it. I do not hide it. What you see is what you get. My goal is that my own brand, my own identity can be easily recognized...as His brand.
And, hopefully, it can lead others to Him.
When it comes to daily life, branding is all around us. Ads, logos, slogans, all of these tools are used by companies in order to strengthen a brand. Whether it is the Nike “swoosh” logo on a t shirt, or a billboard with a cow holding a sign that says “eat more chik’n” branding is used by people to align themselves with something or someone. You don’t have to read the word “Nike” or “Chik-Fil-A.” You know based on what you see who is being represented.
Just as these marketing techniques can draw consumers to these businesses, your brand should be able to draw others to Jesus Christ. This is a concept that I try to keep in the forefront of my mind, especially during times of hardship. I know that I cannot act out or lose my cool, because I am not only representing myself or my company.
I am trying to represent God. As such, my brand/identity must be consistently one of positivity and faith. I am branded by the Word, and I strive each day to make sure that this is easily recognized by others.
