Goliath: Born for the Moment by Vance K. JacksonSampl
Cheese Errands.
David was anointed by Samuel as the next king of Israel and yet his father still sent him on “cheese errands.” Even during national calamity, his brothers still did not see David as the solution, but rather they saw David as a boy tending sheep in the wilderness.
1 Samuel 17:28 KJV expounds on this point further, “And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab's anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle.”
Don’t allow the negative opinion of others to rule over your heart. Don’t allow their perception of you to weigh you down. If David had been emotionally crushed by the opinions of his brothers—he would not have had the courage to crush Goliath. Don’t fold under the weight of man’s opinion.
If David had folded under the weight of Eliab's opinion or even waited for his father’s approval, David would not have fully walked out his destiny and killed Goliath. David did not allow man’s opinion to taint his heart.
Don’t allow the opinion of man and their perception of you to cause you to back down from pursuing your purpose. Don’t let your gifts, talents, and abilities die under the weight of the approval or disapproval of others. Don’t back down. Don’t become bitter. Don’t shrink. Don’t fold. Choose to be bold. Choose to obey God.
