Reflections On The Gospel Of John

DYDD 14 O 21

HOW MUCH ARE YOU WILLING TO PAY? There are many today who are always in search of something rare, precious, or unique; something that no one else has, or if more than one of these items is available then there is a very limited quantity.

These individuals search high and low, and go to great lengths to obtain these items—going from city to city, state to state, and even from country to country to find that rare precious stone, sculpture, painting, or other artifact to add to their collection. In these instances money is often not an object or concern, in other words no price is too high.

This can be seen at auctions, through online trading sites, and when individuals come into large sums of money as they willing pay exorbitant prices for seemingly insignificant items.

Just as an example, the following are items that have been available for purchase and sold through a very popular online trading site: a Blue Star Sapphire ring sold for $124,999; a Hot Wheels toy car collection sold for $1,000,000; a grilled cheese sandwich that appeared to have the face of the Virgin Mary on it sold for $28,000; a Doritos chip shaped in the form of the hat worn by the Pope sold for $1209; and someone even attempted to sell the meaning of life.

Can you imagine that, for a set price the purchaser is led to believe that he or she could receive answers to every question imaginable; NOT!!

The above just goes to show that people are willing to pay ridiculous amounts of money for things that are either insignificant and/or things that definitely will not last.

King Solomon in the book of Proverbs has given us “insider tips” as to what we should really purchase and that which has real value. “Buy the truth and sell it not; not only that, but also get discernment and judgment, instruction and understanding” (PRO.23.23, Amplified Bible). It is truth that gives access to wisdom which then allows us to make the right decisions in life.

We obtain this truth through an intimate and personal relationship with Jesus Christ who is “the way, THE TRUTH, and the life” (JHN.14.6, King James Version), He is also the Living Word (JHN.1.14).
