SAYING 20: BEWARE AND BE AWARE
Ever run into people who just have ‘it?’
‘It’ is what? Ease with who they are. Perhaps they are charismatic and people are drawn in by their presence and obvious humanity. They smile and we melt.
Then we realize that in a relationship, they are bad news. Perhaps they are users, players, or takers and we follow them on social media and we are in awe of their influence. We are both drawn to their flame and are scorched by it simultaneously.
Wisdom says beware. Beware of labeling people "bad" - except when they show you who they are, and then- believe them.
Proverbs 24:1-2 says, "Do not envy that one." Envy is grudging admiration. Control your admiration and let it be for the few who promote good for all, embrace the good in all and love without attachments. They are often the ones without press coverage or 100k followers.
We make "influencers" by merely following them with our curiosity, devotion, and buying what they buy and wearing what they promote. This is admiration. Be aware and beware of who you follow and who you promote.
Be the one who attracts people with your heart of generosity and authenticity. If you do not draw crowds, no worries. We can be comfortable today in our own skin and perhaps with the love of less people.
