Psalms 1
1
psalm I
Tuin: St Peter
1O, blessit he, that gangs‐na wi
The godless, nor will staun’
’Mids’ sinfu’ men, nor sit wi’ them
That scoff at God’s commaun’;
2But, day and nicht, fin’s his delicht,
Aye foremaist abune a’,
To ponder lang the thochts amang
O’ God’s maist holie Law.
3A tree that grows, whaur burnie rowes,
In hairst‐time frit sal gie;
Its leaves sae braw ne’er wilt awa’ —
Sae sal the richteous be.
4But godless men can never ken
Sic blessin’s; like they are
To cauf that’s driv’n by win’s o’ hevin,
And skail’d baith near and far.
5In jidgment they, that dinna hae
Regaird for God, maun fa’;
Nor can they gang, that ettle wrang,
Wi’ folk that loe God’s Law.
6Because the wey o’ gude men aye
The Lord dis brawly ken;
But, shair as ocht, He’ll bring to nocht
The gait o’ godless men.
