God's People Gifts: Coworkers
St. Paul never heard of the African festival of Kwanzaa, but he would have liked at least one of the seven principles, Ujima (cooperative work). He wrote in Romans 16:12, “Greet Tryphena and Tryphosa, those women who work hard in the Lord. Greet my dear friend Persis, another woman who has worked very hard in the Lord.” Those women, and the cheerful attitude they brought, made Paul’s ministry organizational chores a lot lighter. He loved his work. He loved even more working with them.
Look around you at your place of work. Perhaps you will see people who complain, gossip, or steal. But you may also see people who remember your birthday, know the names of your kids, and call when you’re sick. There is a special bond between people who work hard on a successful project. Are there some nice people on your team? Thank you, Lord!
