Becca Music: A Call to Worship

DAY 2 OF 4

FACING GOD

“Don’t be afraid,” Samuel reassured them. “You have certainly done wrong, but make sure now that you worship the Lord with all your heart, and don’t turn your back on Him.”

“You have certainly done wrong.”

When was the last time you’ve heard someone say that to you? Who said it? Who is the Samuel in your life? (Or, better question – is there even a Samuel in your life?)

You need someone with the authority and compassion to tell you that your worship is worthless, that your worship isn’t done with all your heart, that your back is facing God.

There is much to fear in a holy and jealous God, who deserves not your singing worship songs, but your surrender in the secret place of your heart, where you hide your secret sins.

Your sin, your wrong doing, your shortcomings should never be the excuse you make to not obey God with all your heart. The things you’ve done wrong shouldn’t drive you away from Him. Instead, it should be so radically obvious that He’s the only One worth running to. With all your heart.

That is worship: surrendering, day in and day out, to Him.
