When we trust Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes to live in us. This is the source of victory for the Christian. We live righteously by depending on the Spirit. Many benefits of having the Holy Spirit are listed for us. The chapter ends with promises that cannot be read without a sense of excitement! God loves us and has given us victory through the death of His Son and the sending of His Holy Spirit to live in us.

Depending on the Holy Spirit sounds so simple, but we still find it difficult to do. Centering our lives on Jesus and giving control to the Holy Spirit is a moment by moment choice. In this moment are you pursuing sin, rule-following, or dependence on the Holy Spirit?
