Without Jesus
1 Cor 13:1-3
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Matt 7:21-23
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
I tried to cast a demon out one time in the mountains of New Mexico. It didn’t go good. And I don’t know what “many mighty works” means in this passage, but this person sounds like a VARSITY Christian! I am still pushing for pee wee league Christianity!
And Jesus looks the Varsity “Christian” right in the face and says, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
wow
We can do a lot of great things in this life.
Write songs.
Plant churches.
Tithe well.
Mother well.
Father well.
Prophesy well.
Give away “ALL THAT WE HAVE,”
deliver “OUR BODIES TO BE BURNED.”
And it is possible to do all those things “in Jesus Name,” WITHOUT JESUS.
“Whom have I in heaven but you?
And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.
My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
Psalm 73:25-26
