God has been at work in Georgia, a country with deep Christian roots tracing back to the 4th century. Today, the Georgian Orthodox Church is a dominant influence, and the evangelical Christian community remains small, comprising less than 1% of the 5,000,000 population.

Despite historical tensions and occasional resistance from society, the evangelical Church continues to grow slowly, particularly in urban areas like Tbilisi. However, many ethnic minorities, including Azeris and Kurds living in Georgia, remain unreached with the Gospel.

Amid these challenges, the church remains hopeful, striving to be a beacon of light in the region in the midst of Muslim neighbors.

Prayer Points to Consider:

• With ongoing protests in Tbilisi and other regions, pray for the safety of demonstrators and law enforcement. Ask for peaceful resolutions and constructive dialogues to address the concerns of the populace without resorting to violence.
• The Doukhobor community in Gorelovka faces the risk of disappearing. Pray for the preservation and support of their unique traditions to sustain their cultural heritage and that Christ would be glorified in its preservation.
• Georgia currently has candidate status for the European Union. Pray for the country’s diplomatic efforts to align with nations that support its sovereignty and democratic aspirations. Seek open doors for beneficial international partnerships and, more importantly, for the spread of the Gospel.
• Amidst political polarization and societal divisions, pray for reconciliation and unity among the Georgian people to seek healing from past grievances and a collective move towards a harmonious future.
• Ask Father for an outpouring of His Spirit for Georgia’s Christian believers. That those in the orthodox tradition would know the reality of a personal walk with Jesus and that the power of His presence and Word would quicken increased faith, healing, and personal freedom from strongholds for all who call on His Name.

Dear Heavenly Father...Georgia is a nation that once claimed You as their God, and as a people, they were one of the first to proclaim You as Lord over their land. Time has passed, and many have been faithful to follow You, but many have fallen away. I pray for this country to have a fresh outpouring of Your Spirit and that You would lift up their heads in the midst of political and regional turmoil. May they seek You and find You again with fresh eyes and new hearts. I speak protection over Georgia, binding the spirits of division and dissension and calling back Your people as a lighthouse of Your Word and a glory to their neighbors in Jesus’ Matchless Name. Amen!
