More Than Just a Story - the Book of Johnنموونە

Before going to the cross, Jesus sat with His disciples and prepared them for what was coming. He didn’t sugarcoat anything. He told them that following Him would be difficult, that people would reject them, and that they would face persecution. But He also gave them a promise—you wouldn’t be alone. In the midst of any uncertainty not being alone is such an incredible gift.

Jesus told them that He would send the Holy Spirit, to help them, to guide them, comfort them, and remind them of everything He has taught. The Spirit would help them see clearly and lead them into truth. I think this is similar to dropping your kids off at college. As parents we won't physically be there but they won't be alone. They have been taught all the things they need to succeed, even though it will be difficult at times. They can call anytime.

The promise you won't be alone wasn’t just for the disciples—it’s for you too.

Life can feel confusing. We don’t always know what’s right or where to turn. But Jesus didn’t leave us to figure it all out on our own. The Holy Spirit is our helper. He nudges our hearts when we’re heading in the wrong direction. He reminds us of God’s love when we feel unworthy. He brings peace in the middle of chaos and whispers truth when the world is shouting lies. We can call Him anytime. We just start talking to Him through the Holy Spirit.

Jesus even said it was better for Him to leave so that the Spirit could come. That means the Holy Spirit’s presence in our lives is not just an extra bonus—it’s essential. We need Him every day, in every decision, in every struggle.

The Spirit of Truth won’t always tell us what we want to hear, but He will always tell us what we need to hear. His voice leads us closer to Jesus, helping us see things through God’s perspective instead of our own.
