The Breath of Lent

ڕۆژی10 لە 40

We have looked this week at the cost of discipleship. The cost does not always have to be a hardship. If we rush out on a task without consultation with the Lord, there is a possibility that we are "laboring in vain." God's task for you does not have to be a trial. Jesus said, "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." (Matthew 11:29). This does not mean that you may not have to roll up your sleeves or stand-alone from time to time, but God is with you through the labor, God is carrying you through the task, God is filling you for the ministry.

Today's Psalm tells us that if you are out of rhythm, it is not of God. Excessiveness is not of the Lord. There is a pace that will feed your soul and body. You may be tired after a full day of ministry, but your sleep is a reward, not tossing and turning through the night.

Psalm 107 also speaks of the next generation. Children watch us in ministry. Ministry for God is the natural combination of joy and service. The greatest witness to the following generation is a healthy soul as we serve the Lord. May this week's breath prayer be a reminder of this.

Inhale: I can do all this

Exhale: Through him who gives me strength.
