Okay, so Jesus really flips the script here. We live in a world where we’re told to be “served” and be the one on top, right? But Jesus was like, “I’m gonna serve, not be served.” He’s calling out our obsession with power, status, and what other people think about us. Jesus isn’t saying that wanting to be important is bad — but the way we go about it, comparing ourselves to others and seeking recognition, that’s where it gets twisted. True significance comes from knowing who you are, as Jesus did, and realizing that what you do doesn’t make you important — you make it important. How much do you really know of who you are?

So, think about this: Who’s that one person you admire the most, the one who embodies everything you want to be? Why do they inspire you? Could it be because of the way they serve, the way they lift others up instead of focusing only on themselves? What if your next step in growth wasn’t about climbing higher, but about humbling yourself, serving, and choosing the “downward” path instead? How can you make that shift today?

Jesus, help me see how my focus on myself is taking away from real life. Give me the grace to shift my gaze away from just seeking admiration and power, and teach me how to serve like You. Help me find true significance in the work You’ve given me and in the way I love and serve others. Amen.
