God’s Great Love for Us

*In the Bible, nearly all the names have meaning. The same is true for our First Nations people. This means that the translations of the Hebrew and Greek names of biblical people and places have been presented in a First Nations style.

The Great Spirit loves this world of human beings so deeply he gave us his Son—the only Son who fully represents him. All who trust in him and his way will not come to a bad end but will have the life of the world to come that never fades away, full of beauty and harmony. (John 3:16, First Nations Version)

What are your favorite Christmas traditions? Why do you like them? Are there things that your family does that are different from other families?

Whether it’s singing songs or preparing special holiday foods, family traditions are so important because they remind us of the love we are surrounded by. Sometimes these traditions trace all the way back to ancestors that lived long ago.

As much as our families love us, Great Spirit (God) loves us even more! That is why he gave us his Son, Creator Sets Free (Jesus), and that is what we celebrate at Christmas.

Prayer:

Dear Great Spirit (God), thank you for giving us your Son, and please help us to remember at Christmastime how big your love is!

Activity:

How can you show someone you love them this holiday season? Who around you needs to know that God loves them, too? Use a piece of paper and crayons to make a card for that person.
