Don’t fight alone!

"Déborah, can you help me? I keep struggling with my eating disorder, which is building up like a giant between me and my thoughts!"

And yes, today I can help.

Because I've been through it myself. Because I've had at least 100 relapses myself. And because I know what it means to cling to God's hand with the last of your strength and realize, "This is going to take a miracle, I can't handle this on my own any longer."

The giant that David had to face in his life also looked insurmountable: Goliath! But David had already experienced too much with God, personally, to doubt Him. There, where no one had noticed, he had fought battles in solitude, without an audience. Battles of which he knew, "God, if you don't intervene, I have lost."

Even King Saul laughed at David when he wanted to take on Goliath: “You can’t go and fight this Philistine. You’re too young and inexperienced—and he’s been in this fighting business since before you were born.” (1 Samuel 17:33 MSG)

And here David reminded Saul, as well as himself, of all that he had already experienced with God:

“But David said to Saul, ‘I’ve been a shepherd, tending sheep for my father. Whenever a lion or bear came and took a lamb from the flock, I’d go after it, knock it down, and rescue the lamb. If it turned on me, I’d grab it by the throat, wring its neck, and kill it. Lion or bear, it made no difference—I killed it.’” (1 Samuel 17:34-36 MSG)

Hearing of the faith of this young boy David, Saul responded: “Go, and the Lord be with you!” (1 Samuel 17:37 NIV) And as we know, David won this fight against the giant!

Fight your battles in togetherness! In togetherness with your almighty God! There you will gain the confidence you’ll need for every battle in life: without God you’ll get nowhere, but with God you’ll get anywhere!

You are a miracle!
