Marriage is a complex union—it is the coming together of two very different people. And as individuals, we bring our best to our marriage when we know who we are in Christ.

Ultimately, we must find our true identity, and the only way to discover our identity is with God as our Father. The more we know Him, the more we love Him, and the more we realize what relationship with Him really means.

Father says to us, “Remember whose you are. You are My child. I see you as forgiven; I see you as righteous; I see you as significant; I see you as more than enough to do all that I have called you to do. I love you so much that I sent My Son to earth to die for you so that you may be set free from every sin and bondage. I long to have an intimate relationship with you because you are My child.”

I encourage you to read the Word of God with a quest to find out who God is and what He is like. When we know our heavenly Father, we will walk with our heads held high; we can live a life of victory, peace, and joy. We can walk with confidence and purpose because God is our Father.

To have a healthy marriage, we also need to be transparent, honest, and authentic. We have to be real–no masks, no glossing over, and no superficiality! We need to take stock of our own lives and have a very real sense of self-awareness.
