Day 5: Faith in the Fire
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stood before the fiery furnace with an ultimatum: bow to the golden image or face the flames. Their response is one of the most powerful declarations of faith in the Bible: “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us... But even if He does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods.”
Faith like this is unshakable. It isn’t dependent on outcomes; it’s rooted in trust. These three young men knew that God could deliver them, but their faith wasn’t based on whether He would. Their obedience and devotion to God were not negotiable, even in the face of death.
As they were thrown into the furnace, something miraculous happened: the king saw not three men, but four, walking in the fire. The fourth looked “like a son of the gods.” God didn’t prevent them from entering the fire, but He walked with them in it—and ultimately delivered them from it.
What fire are you walking through today? Is it a season of uncertainty, loss, or trial? The truth is, God may not remove the fire, but He promises to be with you in it. And when God is with you, no flame can consume you.
Spend time today praying for the courage to trust God, no matter what you face. Declare, “Lord, I know You are able to deliver me. But even if You don’t, I will trust You.” Let this story remind you that the flames meant to harm you can become the very place where God reveals His glory.

About this Plan
Over the next 21 days, we are setting aside time to seek God intentionally—through fasting, prayer, and giving. Matthew 6 reminds us that these three practices draw us closer to the heart of God and position us to experience His faithfulness in extraordinary ways. Each day, we'll be walking with you through stories from Scripture, personal reflections, and encouragement for this journey. Take time to reflect, pray, and let God speak to you. We're believing that as we lean into this together, He will do above and beyond all we could ask or imagine.
