All Things New: Hope for a New Yearنموونە
Everything is new!
What a promise we have from God. No matter how old we feel, no matter how used-up, no matter how bland, bored, or bothered … no matter what, we are made new!
We can know that WE are made new because God is making ALL things new.
As you enter this new year, know that the old has passed away and that all things are made new. Whether you had a great year last year or you left it hanging by your fingernails, it’s all in the past. God is making this year new, and renewing and refreshing us in the process.
Was last year your best year yet? Great! That means God has set you up for an even BETTER year this year, something you can only accomplish through Him.
Was last year your worst year yet? Great! That means there’s nowhere to go but up, and God has your back as we turn the page and look ahead to new horizons.
Was last year just kinda okay? Just more of the same that left you feeling stuck in a rut? Great! God is shaking the dust of complacency off you and providing you with an opportunity to make this year truly great in His name.
See? No matter what, newness is here! The old day is over, and the new day has dawned … and God is making it new.
Over the next five days we’re going to explore this territory, and we’re going to do it with intention. Each day will have a scripture reading, a short devotional, a way for you to respond practically, and a prayer.
Here’s your response prompt for today: take stock of last year. What were three highlights? What were three lowlights? In what ways do you want to see God work on your behalf to make all things new? Write them down and put them somewhere you can see them regularly, then commit to praying for those things whenever you see them and invite God to have His way in your life. Let’s pray.
God, thank You for making all things new! That includes me! I celebrate Your newness and ask you to work within me to bring about the newness You want for me. Show me where I need You to work in my life, and give me the strength and courage to step out of the way and let You. Amen.
