Church & Students

DAY 9 OF 21

So often in the busyness of life, prayer can fall to the bottom of our priority list. It can become something we rush or try to squeeze in. Here Paul reminds us that prayer is something we should devote ourselves to. It needs to have priority and to be our starting point. Prayer is powerful and effective, which is why Paul not only urges the Colossians to devote themselves to prayer, but he asks them to pray for him – because he knows prayer does something!

Paul wants prayer for opportunities to share the gospel and prayer that he might use those opportunities well. How often do we as the church forget the intrinsic link between prayer and mission, and treat them as two entirely separate things?! Paul reminds us here that our mission is dependent on prayer. It’s prayer that opens doors, and prayer that empowers us to make the most of the opportunities we get. A life devoted to prayer will help us to stay watchful for opportunities to share our faith, and remind us to be thankful, that every opportunity comes from God.

We are seeing increasing openness in culture to conversations around faith, especially among students and Gen Z. God is providing us with greater opportunities to share the good news, especially with this generation. Will you join us in praying for an even greater increase in opportunities to share the good news of Jesus, and in praying that we might make the most of the opportunities before us?

Prayer: Pray that God gives you an opportunity to share your faith today, and pray that when the opportunity comes you make the most of it, and proclaim the good news clearly.

About this Plan

Church & Students

We are in the grip of a slow awakening in the student world as we continue to hear story after story of students coming to know Jesus. This is a story that hasn’t just begun now, it's been unfolding across generations, prayers of those who have sown in tears that God would move powerfully in this nation and the next generation; we are standing on the answered prayers of those faithful intercessors.
