Reading With the People of God #9 - Faithfulness

DAY 31 OF 31

Memorization Challenge:

13 And now behold the king whom you have chosen, for whom you have asked; behold, the Lord has set a king over you. 14 If you will fear the Lord and serve him and obey his voice and not rebel against the commandment of the Lord, and if both you and the king who reigns over you will follow the Lord your God, it will be well. 15 But if you will not obey the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then the hand of the LORD will be against you and your king.- Samuel 12:13-15
24 Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you.25 But if you still do wickedly, you shall be swept away, both you and your king.”- Samuel 12:24-25

Primer:
In today’s readings, we reflect on the faithfulness of God in times of sorrow and hope. Israel mourns Saul’s death, marking the end of one chapter, while Jesus comforts His disciples with the promise of joy that will overcome sorrow. These stories remind us that God’s faithfulness remains steadfast, bringing hope even in the midst of loss.

Question to reflect on: How can you hold onto God’s faithfulness as a source of hope in difficult seasons?

Join the movement: Reading God's Word together.

At Cornerstone Church in Chowchilla, a small town in California’s Central Valley, we believe God is doing big things through His Word. Though our town may be small, we are convinced that God has called us to spark a movement of His people reading and growing in His Word together.

About this Plan

Reading With the People of God #9 - Faithfulness

This is the ninth installment of a Bible reading plan following the lectionary pattern, with daily readings from the Psalms, Old Testament, and New Testament. This month features a daily memorization challenge centered on the theme of faithfulness, drawn from Samuel’s charge to the people as they prepare for their new king. Additionally, each day includes devotional primers to help prepare your heart and mind for the readings.
