Remember When I...

DAY 4 OF 21

Would you trade a one-dollar bill for ten pennies? Sure, ten is more than one—but you know that the value of ten pennies is way less than one dollar. In the same way, when we follow Jesus, more things of less value try to stop us from living like Him. One of the biggest things is unforgiveness. Jesus invites us to forgive everyone, just as He does for us. But that’s not always easy. Sometimes, we think that we should hold onto a grudge, try to get back at someone, wish bad things for others, or spread mean words. But what if we saw those moments of unforgiveness as distractions? A cheaper option to keep us from experiencing real freedom in Jesus?

Today, challenge yourself: the next time you’re tempted to avoid forgiveness, recognize it for what it is—a trick to pull you away from the life Jesus offers.
