Living All In
Pastor Marcus Marshall
Over the last few weeks, we have talked and studied about going all in for God. I pray that this will be bigger than just January, but this is how we live our lives. I have noticed at times in my own life that I have made a habit of going “All In” but limited it to just giving Jesus my heart. I have realized that being a Christian is more than being determined not to go to hell but more so to live a life of faith.
This year, you will have many opportunities to be distracted because what you see may look different than what your faith has traditionally been anchored to. Your faith should be anchored to Jesus, which means you are tied to love, hope, peace, and grace. There will be times this year when it doesn’t feel like you are anchored to anything, only bad days, bad news, fear, and drama. But remember, as Christians, we live by faith connected to Jesus Christ. Throughout this year and for the rest of your life, people should be able to look at your life, how you respond to trouble and hopeless situations, and see that you’re a person who is all in for Christ. What good is there being a social media Christian if you don’t live it out every day at your schools, in your family, or on your sports teams?
I have noticed that the enemy is great at making us believe lies. He never has new tricks; he constantly throws the same temptations, fear, and anxiety at us and makes us think that it won’t work out for the good. He makes us believe that our future is bound to end in disaster.
I remember growing up, I hated roller coasters. I would try to gather the courage, get to the front of the line, and chicken out. I would have one foot on the roller coaster and one foot off, throw a fit, and embarrass my parents. It was hard because I was caught between wanting to overcome my fear and not wanting to go all in. If we’re not careful, our spiritual lives can also resemble that. We may have been living one foot in and one foot out on our faith. But be encouraged! You can go all in with God; He will do more than you can ask, think, or imagine.
You will have friends that don’t always make the same choices as you but don’t allow that to determine how much you go after God. Nobody changed the world by playing it safe or staying in familiar territory. Let this be the year you go all in for Christ, just as He went all in for you!
How will you live an all in life of faith this year?

About this Plan
“New Year, New Me” is only accurate if something is different about you. This devotional is meant to challenge you to fully commit to Christ, your actions, hearts, and minds. This will show you the importance of living authentically for Jesus by fully engaging, not having one foot in and one foot out of your faith. We pray that through this, you will make bold choices, trust God’s plan, and make your relationship with Christ above everything else. Are you ready? Let’s go All In!
