Ps 120-134 Psalms of ascents

These are most likely pilgrim psalms, sung on the journeys up to Jerusalem for the annual feasts (hence ‘ascents’). I am persuaded by Alec Motyer’s view that these psalms are in groups of three - each group having a psalm representing 'far from home' 'on the way' and 'in Jerusalem'. I think this gives a helpful perspective on how to read and understand the psalms, but have a ponder yourself. (Psalms 135 and 136 don’t have the title ‘song of ascents’ but are often added to the end of this group.)

On the way Ps 121, Ps 124, Ps 127, Ps 130, Ps 133.

In Jerusalem Ps 122, Ps 125, Ps 128, Ps 131, Ps 134-136.

NOTE: Days 1-5 of each week contain the scripture reading for that week. Day 6 has just the 'key chapters'.
