In the southern kingdom of Judah, only 8 of the 19 kings and one queen followed the LORD. Ultimately, Judah suffers defeat and destruction by the Babylonians, leaving Jerusalem and its Temple in ruins and her people in exile. The book of 1 Chronicles retells the kingdom's story from a different perspective. It opens with a detailed genealogy going all the way back to Adam, reminding the people that they are part of God’s eternal plan.
