Child of the King

DAY 3 OF 4

Everlasting Father

What Will You Find In A Perfect Father?:

1) Unimaginable Strength

Every parent is flawed, and maybe your mother or father has let you down in truly painful ways. It’s important to acknowledge this pain, but it’s also vital to know that, once you place your faith in Jesus, you’re adopted into a family with a perfect Father. God is strong enough to create the world, sustain the world, save the world, and still care enough to know every detail about you. By His Spirit, He instills strength in you as you place your confidence in Him.

2) Unwavering Humility

Unfortunately, due to sin, pride lives in the hearts of everyone. When pride drives the decision-making of a father, it leads to choices that benefit him instead of the child. However, in the most beautiful act of humility the world has ever known, Jesus allowed His body to be broken so that we could be whole. Your Everlasting Father sacrificed Himself to have a relationship with you!

3) Unbreakable Love

Surely, there must be a limit to God’s love, right? According to the apostle Paul, “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom. 8:38-39). Your Everlasting Father’s love is just that - everlasting, without end. It’s not conditional on your behavior; it’s based on His perfect character. You can rest in the reality that He will never leave you or forsake you!

Let’s Think About This:

Question #1: What is one thing that stood out to you while reading God’s Word?

Question #2: Which of the characteristics of a perfect father (unimaginable strength, unwavering humility and unbreakable love) resonated with you the most? Why?

Question #3: How would you describe your relationship with your dad? How does recognizing God as your perfect heavenly Father give you hope?

About this Plan

Child of the King

In the Child of the King study, we will take a closer look at four titles ascribed to Jesus in Isaiah 9:6-7. Prayerfully, as we closely examine the Prince who was born on Christmas Day over 2,000 years ago, we will develop a deeper understanding of how belief in His life, death and resurrection secures our own adoption as children of the one true King!
