Daily Bible Reading—December 2024, God’s Guiding Word: Joyنموونە
Introduction
Revelation 22:1–21: John’s final vision is a reminder that Jesus will come again and bless those who are faithful. They will eat the fruit from the Tree of Life and enter the Holy City. While awaiting his coming, the faithful are to continue doing good and being holy.
Today’s Key Verse: Revelation 22:13
[Jesus said:] “I am the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”
Reflect
John’s vision of the new creation includes a river of life-giving water and the tree of life (verses 1–2, 14). The Tree of Life is first mentioned at the time of creation and the beginning of human history (Genesis 3:22). What is the significance of the Tree of Life in the midst of the new Jerusalem? Jesus’s final words are, “Yes indeed! I am coming soon!” (verse 20). These words are also spoken in verses 7 and 12 and in Revelation 3:11. What does Jesus’s promise of his coming mean to you? How does it affect the way you live your life now?
Pray
Come, Lord Jesus! Lead me in your ways and prepare me to receive you in love. Lord of life, by your grace, fill me with the faith and hope that brings true joy. Come, Lord Jesus! Amen.
