Advent: The Good News of Christmas

DAY 4 OF 4

Shachah: bow down in worship

As soon as the Magi saw the Christ child, “they fell to the ground and worshiped Him.” Some translations say, “bowed down and worshiped Him.” Either way, these Magi kings, men of importance, knew they were in the presence of the Anointed One, a King, and could not stand in His presence but had to fall down and worship Him.

Do we have that sense of awe and reverence as we enter His presence? Do we even long to be in His presence? We sing each Christmas, “O come let us adore Him,” but do we mean it? Worship in Hebrew is “Shachah” which means to “bow down in worship.” To bow down and worship, we must humble ourselves, knowing that the One we worship is much greater than any other thing or person.

Jesus knew since He would not remain physically on the earth for very long, that we needed to understand the true meaning of worship. He said, “But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:23-24

To truly worship Jesus this Christmas, we must fall at His feet, laying everything else down, humbling ourselves, and worship Him alone in spirit and in truth. We must truly adore Him! Fall in love with Him all over again and lavish our love back onto Him! O come each and every one of us around the world and adore Christ our Lord!

Prayer:
Jesus, we lay down our lives and everything we value at Your feet. We say Holy, Holy, Holy are You, Lord. Thank You for laying Your life down for us. I pray that each of us takes time each day to worship and adore You! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
