Christ: The Treasure of Our Heartsنموونە
As Christians, we celebrate the season of Advent every year with great anticipation because it is a time for us to earnestly reflect on our faith as we anticipate and prepare for Christmas. Our bedrock faith in Jesus Christ is the anchor that gives us hope in a turbulent world, tossed from side to side by the strong winds of modernity and sin. When we reflect on Advent as believers, we feel the anointing of the Holy Spirit inspiring us to ready ourselves through spiritual disciplines to do ministry and proclaim the good news to a world that has rejected God.
The firm foundation of our faith rests on the assurance that regardless of the dire circumstances we face, we still have an unmovable hope in God who loves us. God the Father sent His only begotten Son into the world for our salvation. The Holy Spirit, who lives and abides in our hearts by faith, reminds us that our hope is not in vain because Christ Jesus is always with us.
Today, amid corruption, war, natural calamities, and divisions, we still have hope in God. As nations struggle with economic and domestic turmoil, we still have hope because we treasure our faith in God, who cares for us with a steadfast love that will never fail.
In this time of preparation and anticipation, let us focus on how we can devote ourselves more deeply to the coming of the Messiah. We can do this by opening our hearts and minds as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, King of kings and Lord of lords.
Prayer
Almighty and eternal God, you have given your people gifts of faith and hope to share with the world so that multitudes will come to a saving knowledge of your great salvation and love. As we prepare for Advent, may we dedicate our lives to your divine and holy will. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
