The Heavenly Host

'Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favour rests.”'

On the night of Jesus’ birth, an angel visited the shepherds on the hillside to notify them of the event, but it didn’t stop there. As if this heavenly 'heads up' wasn’t enough, this announcement was followed by many reinforcements to underscore the news and celebrate and worship the God who had come to earth.

God’s Word says, '…where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.' (Matthew 18:20). There is power in numbers, and our imaginations are stirred when we think of this multitude. Depending on the Bible translation, this multitude is described as an army, vast host, troop, large assembly, and immense crowd.
