Hebrews

DAY 7 OF 14

Day Seven: The ABCs of the Faith

So, Hebrews 6—this is where the preacher is like, “Alright, people, time to grow up.” He’s not just throwing out some casual advice; he’s essentially saying, "Let's move on from the basics—repentance, faith, baptisms, eternal judgment—the ABCs of the Christian faith." You need those ABCs, just like you need to know the alphabet before you can read. But you don’t stop there; you build on it. If you're still hanging around in spiritual kindergarten, it’s time to step it up.

Now, here's where it gets serious. The preacher gives a warning: if you’ve tasted the heavenly gift, been enlightened by the Holy Spirit, and then fallen away, you’re in big trouble. This isn’t just messing up—this is like crucifying Jesus all over again. It’s brutal because these are people who knew the Truth and then bailed. The ABCs are what keep you grounded, so don’t ditch them.

But it’s not all doom and gloom. Remember Abraham? He waited, and God came through. God made a promise, and He swore by Himself because, well, who’s greater than God? No one. God’s promises aren’t just words; they’re ironclad, unbreakable. That’s the kind of hope we’re supposed to hold on to—hope that’s rock-solid, because God Himself is our anchor.

And speaking of anchors, this hope we have is like an anchor for the soul, pulling us into God's presence. Imagine that—the anchor isn't just some rusty old chain holding you down; it's God Himself, pulling you closer, deeper into His presence. This isn’t just about access to God—it’s about being pulled into His presence by the weight of His glory. That’s the kind of confidence you can bank on.

So, don’t just sit there sipping on spiritual milk. Get into the meat and potatoes of your faith, hold on to the hope that God’s anchored in the Holy of Holies, and let that hope pull you deeper into His presence. You’re not going anywhere with God as your anchor. That’s the confidence you need—that’s freaking insane.
