Achieving Victory With Jesusنموونە
Reigning with Jesus
“The one who conquers and who keeps My works until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron, as when earthen pots are broken in pieces, even as I myself have received authority from My Father.” (Revelation 2:26-27)
Psalm 2 describes how the kings of the earth take counsel together against the Lord. In response, God announces the coming of a King who will “break [the rebellious nations] with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.” In the book of Revelation, this announcement is applied to Jesus Christ. He will strike down the nations at the end of time. He will destroy all adversaries to create a new, perfect world without sin or evil.
Today’s verses tell us that believers who remain faithful until the end (meaning either the end of their earthly lives or the end of time), will reign with Jesus. They too are “given authority.” They will help carry out Jesus’ judgment on humanity’s sin.
All around us, we see how people indeed turn against the Lord. They either ignore Him or actively oppose Him, threatening and persecuting His children. This can make us feel helpless and hopeless. It may even seem like God’s adversaries are in control! But if we keep obeying Jesus until the end, the tables will be turned. Then we may reign on the earth with Him.
How do you imagine a world completely and directly reigned by Jesus? And how do you imagine the role of believers in heaven?
About this Plan
In various parts of the Bible, Jesus Christ draws our attention toward the blessings He has in store for believers who endure to the end. These promises are meant to encourage us to “run with endurance the race that is set before us”. For if we do so, we will achieve victory with Jesus!
