Perseverance in Faith Leads to Miracles
Fear can be debilitating and stop us from pushing forward into what God wants to do in us. Fear and fear are oppositional in nature. Fear is the belief that something is going to happen and it’s going to be bad. Faith is the belief that God is in charge and will use it for good when something happens.
Peter was present when Jesus calmed the waves, so when the invitation came from Jesus to walk on water, Peter was filled with faith. He is the only disciple who steps out of the boat and walks on water, but his fear overtakes what faith is doing in him. For the fifth week of this devotional plan, we encourage you to read about Peter’s journey on the water in Matthew 14:22-33. When we use our faith despite our fear, we will see God's power and authority come through in ways we couldn't experience otherwise.

Would you love to increase your faith? Over the next seven weeks, you will read through the Heroes of Faith section of Hebrews 11, watch videos and devotionals, memorize scripture, and be challenged to take your step of faith. When we see God's faithfulness, hide His word in our hearts, and step in the direction He leads, our step of faith becomes a huge leap both in our hearts and for His kingdom.
