Lie: God Doesn’t Care About Your Suffering
Obviously in our world there is pain and suffering, and the enemy would love to whisper the lie that God doesn’t care about our pain. This thought can make us feel alone, isolated, and abandoned. The enemy during times of pain or difficulty wants to make you feel distant from God. The Bible reassures us countless times that God has compassion and deeply cares about us even while we are suffering.
Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” This is emphasizing that God is near to us, especially in our times of suffering or heartache. He loves and cares for us. He sees us when we are hurting.
When we look at Jesus and see how He responds to suffering in John 11:35, “Jesus wept.” This reflects His empathy and genuine sorrow over the pain of others. He cares for us and weeps with us in our suffering. He understands our pain. In our moments of hardship, we should cling to the truth that God’s Compassion is real and His Presence is ever with us.
