The Message of Leadership

DAY 26 OF 31

A SLICE OF HEAVEN

"In time of peace prepare for war."
-Flavius Renatus Vegetius

Andrew Carnegie founded the Peace Palace and its library at The Hague in the Netherlands with a gift of one and a half million dollars in 1903—all in an effort to inspire world peace. If you go to their website today and search for “Bible” you will get fifteen hits, and none of them is a real “Bible.” Can you imagine that? They have a library devoted to peace and not a single Bible, the greatest book ever written on the subject of peace.

Peace will always be an elusive dream unless we first meet the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ Himself. It is Christ who can give us the serenity to be kind in the face of adversity; it is Christ who
gives us the ability to remain silent in response to angry words spewed in our face; and it is Christ alone who will someday bring peace to humanity when He establishes His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.

Submit to the peace of Christ. Let Him calm your inner person. You can be a calming influence on others if you are filled with inner peace. Peace flows from the heart. Tune in to the peace of heaven. As Christ said to the Samaritan woman at the well, “Anyone who drinks the water I give will never thirst—not ever. The water I give will be an artesian spring within, gushing fountains of endless life” (John 4:13).

Essential Insight 26: As much as is within you, be at peace with all men.
