Prepare for an Encounterنموونە
An Encounter with Jesus
In John 3 we learn of Nicodemus, a religious leader who encountered Jesus’ ministry and was sure Jesus was from God.
Nicodemus was a religious man and well-known by the Jewish community (see other passages about Nicodemus: John 3:10, 7:45-52, 19:39-40).
He respected Jesus but he lacked one very important thing: a genuine God-given spiritual life.
Think about your spiritual life.
Do you know if you have been really born again by the Spirit of God?
Encountering God means the spirit begins to work on your inner life. It is an encounter with God Himself, the truth of His Word & the power of His Holy Spirit.
In order to receive all that God has for you, you need to first have experienced new life. If you have not yet made this most important decision to become a follower of Jesus and be born again by the Spirit of God - stop everything and pray now.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I believe that you are God’s Son and that you died on the cross so that my sins could be forgiven. I ask you to cleanse my heart and make me new. I invite you, Jesus, into my heart. I will follow you. Be my Lord and my Saviour. Amen.
Journalling
Read how Jesus described the need to have a REAL spiritual life: John 3:1–8.
Q: What term did Jesus use to describe being spiritually alive?
Q: What is needed for this spiritual life?
Q: Why is being religious or a ’good person’ not enough?
Q: Who brings about this new life? (also see John 3:5-6, 8. John 6:63)
