Reading With the People of God - #6 LOVEنموونە
Memorization Challenge: 1 Corinthians 13:8-10
Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away
Reading Primer: God's Heart. God's Power and God's Gospel
Psalm 20—This is a powerful word reminding us of the assurance of God's Saving work. This passage shows us once again that God is the giver of all and that He watches over His chosen ones. God reminds us not to trust in man-made power or weapons but in Almighty God, who hears and answers our prayers. God invites each of us to witness and experience this redeeming grace and power.
Duet 24 - We read in this chapter about a people who were loved by God. They are a people on a journey, just Like us, and God is calling them to live differently. He chose the nation of Israel to be a Light in the world. So God established guidelines for them, whether it was a matter of marriage, employment, family relations, justice, or dealing with the poor. His Law. And at the very heart of God's Law is Love and compassion for His chosen who so easily stray. God's desire for them and us is to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly before Him.
2 Cor. 4 - This is a powerful scripture. It puts the spotlight squarely on the power of God's GospeL. Despite our weaknesses, trials, failures, and other shortcomings, we are encouraged to focus on Jesus Christ and His saving work on the cross. Once again, we are called to be a light in a very dark world. This scripture tells us that we carry the very precious treasure of the Gospel, which shows God's grace and power, even in our weakness. It is about God's power. It is about God's grace. This passage reminds us to press on and never to lose heart, no matter the pressure. We are promised the renewing of the inner man, even as things around us fall apart. That is a good word for everyone in this world that seems to be getting darker.
Yes, we have a hope! And yes, we will have an eternal reward!

About this Plan
This is the sixth part of a reading plan through the Bible, following the lectionary pattern of reading in the Psalms, Old Testament, and New Testament each day. In addition, each day this month will feature a memorization challenge for 1 Corinthians 13 (The Love Chapter), and there will be brief devotionals from different people in our Church scattered throughout the plan.
