Day 8: Tithing and Sowing – The Foundation of Financial Stewardship
Tithing and sowing are foundational principles in financial stewardship. They are acts of obedience that honor God and position us to receive His blessings. Leviticus 27:30 establishes the tithe as holy, belonging to the Lord. When we tithe, we acknowledge that everything we have comes from God and that He is the ultimate provider.
Our testimony of moving from financial struggle to abundance is rooted in the practice of tithing and sowing. It was during the most challenging times that we chose to honor God with our first fruits, trusting Him to provide. 2 Corinthians 9:10 reinforces the principle that God supplies seed to the sower and increases the harvest of righteousness. As we sowed our seeds of faith—financially and in other areas—God multiplied them, leading to an abundant harvest.
Malachi 3:10-12 contains one of the most powerful promises in Scripture regarding tithing. God invites us to test Him in this, promising to pour out so much blessing that there won’t be room enough to store it. He also promises to protect our resources from the devourer, ensuring that our efforts are not in vain. As we faithfully tithed and sowed, we experienced this promise firsthand, seeing God’s provision and protection in every area of our lives.
Reflect on your own practice of tithing and sowing. Are you faithfully honoring God with your first fruits and trusting Him to provide? Remember that these principles are not just financial transactions but acts of worship and faith that align you with God’s provision and blessings.
**Prayer:**
Father, I thank You for the principles of tithing and sowing. Help me to be faithful in these practices, trusting You to provide and multiply the seed I sow. May my tithes and offerings be a reflection of my love and obedience to You. Amen.
