The Amazing Resurrection of the Deadنموونە
The Ultimate Victory
On the Day of the Lord, at the general resurrection, there will be another wonderful victory. Every single earthly rule, authority, and power will be destroyed. All earthly dominions and every demonic control will be brought down.
No longer will dictators, egomaniacs, and evil power structures rule the world. Without Christ, all rulers, dominions, authorities, celebrities, entertainers, and billionaires, will be doomed. Every name, no matter how great, will crumble before the name of Jesus (Ephesians 1:15-22; Philippians 2;9-11). All will be destroyed. And last of all, death and the grave will be no more.
There will also be an unprecedented cry of victory echoing through the heavens:
Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?... Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:54-57).
From a human time-locked perspective, we would imagine that this will take centuries to accomplish. But from an eternal perspective, it will be just a matter of moments. The twinkling of an eye, to quote Paul.
There will be a new heaven and a new earth (Revelation 21:1). There will be no more tears, no more pain, no more night. God himself will be our light. Christ will be our glory. There will be no further need for resurrection for no one will ever die. As the Old Testament prophet said, ‘No eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him’ (Isaiah 64:4;1 Corinthians 2:9).
H. P. Spafford put it well when he wrote:
But Lord, ‘tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,
The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh, trump of the angel! Oh, voice of the Lord!
Blessed hope! Blessed rest of my soul!
What next?
No doubt you are keen to tackle a new Bible Plan, and I hope you will, but may I suggest that there could be a benefit in going back over this Plan as well, to refresh your memories of what we have considered. Perhaps just re-read the notes to make sure you haven’t missed anything. And revise those memory verses as well.
Read (aloud), record, repeat, and recall 1 John 2:28; 3:3.
About this Plan
What is the resurrection of the dead? When will it happen? Who will be involved? What kind of bodies will we have? What will we look like? Will we recognise each other? What will we do? Why won't people marry? What is the Day of the Lord? How can we be ready for it? These and other questions are raised in this fascinating Bible Plan prepared by Australian author and teacher Dr Barry Chant.
