Unrushed Living: Embracing Simplicity and Savoring Life's Moments

DAY 11 OF 18

Prayer: The God for All Season

But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge; I will tell of all Your deeds. PSALM 73:28

She always felt her strongest after prayer. She could sit in the car, in a classroom, or on a park bench; she could pray while jogging or grocery shopping; she did not need a pew or holy music (although she prayed with those things too). Prayer was a form of breathing with her, and every breath brought her life.

You can try to do life without God. You can work hard, try to achieve, buy nice things, and even give your time and money away on occasion. But if you don’t have Him to fall back on, you’ll eventually burn out with nothing that matters to show for it. Life isn’t meant to be done alone. Friends, circumstances, and even family members might come and go, but God is forever and always. He’s a Companion in lonely times and a Counselor in confusing times. He leads you through decisions and cheers you on when things are going great. He’ll even hold you close when you’re hurting. Making God your refuge means knowing that He’s a safe place to be, at all times. There will never be a time when you can’t count on that and look to Him for answers. If God is your refuge, you’ll be okay. Take a minute to talk with Him right now. What weighs you down? What lifts you up? What’s on your mind? It all matters to Him, and He loves working through life with you.

God,

thank You for life. I thank You that I can cast all my cares on You because You care. You know everything that is in my heart before I even think of it. I ask that You would help me align my life with Your will. I don’t want to operate without communicating with You first. May You continue to mold and shape me into who You have called me to be.

In Jesus’s name, Amen.
