Clear Sight

DAY 5 OF 6

There is Purpose in Your Patience

Today’s verses come from an amazing book many Christians skip over. The book of Habakkuk is all about asking God where He is when evil seems to be winning and God seems silent. In the midst of this short book, God tells Habakkuk to write down the vision he is receiving and to remain patient until it comes to pass.

Habakkuk is impatient because he does not see God acting in the midst of injustice. But God says to write the vision “that he may run who reads it.” Although God’s people are waiting now, there is coming an “appointed time” that causes those with the vision to act quickly!

You may have read Isaiah 40:31 before. It says, But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

Waiting for God and for His vision for our lives can be challenging, but in the waiting He actually renews and restores us. Then we, too, can run—without growing weary—and accomplish all God has revealed to us. Are you in a time of action or a season of waiting right now? What is God teaching you?

As you engage with God’s Word:

● What is God saying to me?

● What does it mean to me?

● How can I apply what God is teaching me?

● How can I be specific in prayer today?

After you reflect on these questions, bring everything to God in prayer.

About this Plan

Clear Sight

You’ve probably heard the saying, “a picture is worth a thousand words.” God designed our minds to work this way and He often uses different types of imagery to communicate to us! In this six-day plan, we’ll look at examples from Scripture of God speaking to His people in visions to discover how we can hear God’s voice and messages in our own lives.
