Unfiltered: Living Raw, Real, + Redeemed by Jesusنموونە
DESPERATE FOR DELIVERANCE
This story mentions two extreme moments of vulnerability - both for the synagogue leader who was desperate for his daughter’s healing and the woman who had bled continuously for twelve years. Notice how Scripture mentions that both people possessed unwavering faith in Jesus' power to heal.
Sometimes, having faith in the face of dire circumstances seems crazy. This is the challenge vulnerability presents to each of us - will we trust the character of God over the circumstances we face? This is why vulnerability sometimes feels scary and counterintuitive.
Think about how long a few months can feel when you’re navigating a hardship. Now, imagine enduring it for twelve years! The woman in this story is a testament to how courage and faith can change our lives in a moment. Healing doesn’t always happen suddenly, but for the bleeding woman and the synagogue leader’s daughter, faith made it possible.
Let these stories remind us that it is often desperation that allows for the presence of the Deliverer to do what only He can do.
GET REAL WITH YOURSELF
When something negative happens to you or someone you love, do you try to take matters into your own hands, or do you turn to God in prayer?
If you were the woman who had been bleeding for twelve years, do you think you would have had this same response to Jesus? Or do you think you would have stopped believing healing was possible?
What is something you’ve stopped believing in that you think God may want to revive?
GET RENEWED IN PRAYER
HEY JESUS,
Thank You for the stories that help me see the power of courage and faith. Help me live with the same expectation of Your presence. Highlight anything that I am holding on to that’s keeping me from pursuing healing. Illuminate any area of pride that might keep me from reaching out to You for help.
I know that Your Word is true and that You are still in the miracle-working business—that is Your nature! Help me bravely seek your healing like the synagogue ruler and the woman in today’s Scripture reading. I don’t want to conform to those around me based on what’s comfortable.
Sometimes, I feel frustrated when I have to endure hardship. I know You understand. You weep with me, Father. You aren’t angry with me for wishing my circumstances were easier; rather, You have given me the authority to see beyond where I am and speak with hope and joy over my future.
Remind me that You have the final say in my life. Refocus my eyes on You
IN JESUS'S NAME, AMEN.
