How to Share Your Faithنموونە
You Evangelize More Than You Think
Advertising is evangelism.
Gentlemen, you’re invited to seek “the good life” in this product or that service hundreds of times every day. I can assure you that the estimated $674 billion spent on advertising each year is not in vain.
Countless more “ads” arise from the examples and words of your friends, neighbors, and acquaintances. One friend is sending their kid to a “better” school, so you probably should, too. Another is renovating, traveling, or changing jobs. All of this invites or scares us toward some vision of the good life. Every day, you hear hundreds of small “g” gospels promising you abundant life somewhere.
There is fierce competition for market share of the human heart.
This week, we'll focus on sharing the good news of Christ. Various stats show that many Christians resist sharing their faith verbally and even consider it offensive or wrong to do so.
Those familiar with these stats pray for miraculous healing of the Church’s mute tongue and strategies for evangelism revival.
It’s helpful to reframe this discussion.
The church doesn’t have a problem evangelizing. The Church’s tongue is not mute. All of us are constantly inviting others to some version of the good life.
The Church isn’t mute, but much of our evangelism isn’t about the good life in and with Jesus. We’re always preaching, but we aren’t always preaching Christ.
Men, what gospel are you already preaching? If we ask the people nearest you about yourself, what would they say you love, value, and talk about the most? Where would they say you find meaning, hope, peace, and joy?
Your life and words are doing more evangelism than you realize.
What if the Gospel of Christ is true? What if Christ is who He says He is?
What if the true abundant life is only found in Him and with Him?
There are thousands of small “g” gospels, but all of our sharing is ultimately an invitation to Christ’s way or some other way.
It’s my prayer that our lives become so rooted in Christ, His love, and His Gospel that they increasingly overflow with the message of Christ.
None of us have a problem sharing our faith. The question is, which faith are we sharing?
Prayer: Lord, increase my faith! Help me to love You more deeply. Show me where my heart is and the value of life with you anew. Amen.
Reflection: Write down two ways your life does preach the Gospel of Christ, and invite God to show you some of the other messages you’re sharing with others that are contrary to the Gospel of Christ (e.g., Life is all about money; Life is about optimizing your children through activities and programs; etc.)
